First semester of college-level Chinese, this test covers grammar and vocabulary (over 150 fundamental phrases) and also includes audio clips to practice listening skills.

This test covers the contents of a first-semester college Chinese course that emphasizes conversational skills, reading/writing, and listening/speaking. By completion of the corresponding course, one will be able to demonstrate mastery of basic grammar, fundamental vocabulary, and be able to partake in everyday Chinese conversation. The corresponding textbook consists of grammar and vocabulary lessons, real-life dialogues, drills and activities for practice, and cultural highlights.

This test includes questions that check mastery of vocabulary and grammar taught in this course. Detailed explanations explain grammar and vocabulary use in certain situations. Additionally, audio clips are available to improve listening skills by hearing the correct pronunciation of sentences/phrases.

This test asks questions in the form of fill-in-the-blank, true/false, single-selection multiple choice and multiple-selection multiple choice. Be sure to select all applicable answers when answering a multiple-selection multiple choice question. Additionally, when answering a fill-in-the-blank question, do not use a period, question mark or exclamation point to end a sentence or phrase.

It is based on Chinese 1A: Elementary Chinese, taught at Pomona College in Claremont, California.
