Chemistry is a branch of physical science pertaining to matter, and its properties, structure and composition. Commonly known as the central science, chemistry bridges other natural sciences.

Chemistry is the study of matter and its properties, as well as how and why substances combine or separate to form other substances. Chemistry also analyzes the behavior of various substances as they interact with energy. Chemistry is an active and essential part of our everyday lives, from cooking food to maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness. Though we may not see the chemical presence in these activities, chemicals and chemistry are what make many daily processes possible. There are five main branches of chemistry: analytical chemistry, which measures the properties of substances through observation, physical chemistry, which combines chemistry with physics, organic chemistry, which studies compounds containing the element carbon, inorganic chemistry, which studies material which do not contain the element carbon, and biochemistry, which deals with chemical processes in living organisms.
