About

Testing has been a part of learning and the exchange of knowledge forever. Interestingly, we often learn best from our mistakes. These errors quickly identify what we don’t know and what requires more time, attention, and effort to master. That reality, coupled with the breadth of information that can be accessed and delivered via the Internet, led to the development of Learning Exams by Neu Academic.

A Learning Exam starts like any other test. The exam creator – typically an educator, knowledge expert, or subject enthusiast – composes questions that are used to assess understanding, and defines the correct answer. Utilizing instant feedback offered by Internet, any taker of a Learning Exam can immediately identify their mistakes or knowledge gaps. Neu Academic makes this process even more powerful by facilitating multi-level answers in short and detailed formats. The detailed format offers a complete learning opportunity, made possible by the features and capabilities of the web.

Because feedback is immediate, takers of a Learning Exam can focus on their errors, when they are most familiar with the material and receptive to learning. The detailed answer explanations - which might include video, audio, image, text, and web resources – can then be used to overcome a lack of understanding. The benefits are not just limited to the test taker. The creator of a Learning Exam can use the results to identify areas that might require more explanation, or teaching attention, or even a different teaching approach. The immediacy and the presentation of test results allows exam creators to provide a more effective and successful learning environment.

The founders of Neu Academic have been involved with web-based learning for the past 15 years. They have backgrounds in technology, design, finance, marketing, and, of course, education. While a lot has changed over this period, the idea that we can learn from our mistakes remains as true as ever. The advantages of the web simply make it easier to do so for those that teach or convey knowledge, and those that learn or need to confirm their understanding of what’s being taught. Please let us know what you think of the Neu Academic experience.
